About the APA!
The American Poolplayers Association (APA) of Buffalo is focused on providing a fun filled, community focused, family run pool league that operates in the Buffalo, NY metro area. Our goal is to provide entertainment and the opportunity to meet new people in our area through weekly league play and nationally through our Regional Tournaments and World Championships events. Our league is represented by people from all walks of life – 25% of our members are female! Our motto in the APA is to Have Fun, Meet People, Play Pool.
The APA is the world’s largest armature pool league with more members than all other amateur leagues combined; we currently have 260,000 active members and locally we have almost 300.
For those of you that might be thinking, "I'm not good enough to play," consider this … 75% of APA members are beginner to intermediate players, meaning you don't have to be a pool shark to play. The only thing you really need, is the desire to have fun! With APA's Equalizer® Handicap System, everyone has an equal chance of winning.

some membership cards require you to be able to jump the cue ball, bank it off
three rails and sink the 8-Ball blindfolded, getting an APA Membership Card is
much easier.
Having fun, meeting new people and playing pool is what the APA is all about.. You don't have to be a pool shark, because in the APA -- everyone can play and anyone can win. The APA wants beginners and novices, because it is the AMATEUR Poolplayers Association. No other organization in pool gives ordinary players a chance to win a share of nearly $1.5 MILLION guaranteed cash and prizes paid out through its national tournaments.
How does the APA do it? It uses The Equalizer® handicap system to determine the amount of games a player has to win in order to capture the match. It allows a novice to win less games than a more-skilled opponent to win a match.
